(Hjartdal, Norway 27 June 2012) On Wednesday 27 June, Sauland kraftverk AS was established at Nordbø pensjonat, a bed and breakfast in Hjartdal, Telemark county. Skagerak Kraft, Hjartdal municipality, Notodden Energi, Tinfos and ten local landowners have joined forces to establish the company which will supply power to nearly 11,000 households.
(22 May 2013) Sauland Power Plant and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration have been approved for a shared spoil tip for the development of the E134 from Århus to Gvammen and the planned development of Sauland Power Plant.
(4 July 2013) Notodden Energi has acquired Tinfos’ shares, and Hjartdal municipality has become a co-owner of Sauland kraftverk AS. Tinfos AS has sold its shares in Sauland kraftverk AS following an agreement with Notodden Energi AS. Notodden acquired Tinfos’ shares on 15 March 2013.
(4 July 2013) Sauland kraftverk AS has started detailed planning of the future power plant in Hjartdal municipality. In order to have the power plant in operation by 2020, the work is under way before the NVE has issued its recommendation concerning the licence application.
The NVE has recommended granting a licence for Sauland Power Plant. However, the conditions are significantly more stringent than expected. If they prevail, it will be very difficult to go ahead with the development.
Sauland Power Plant suggests reducing development of the planned power plant in Hjartdal. The licence application is now undergoing final consideration by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
