About Sauland Power Plant
Development of the Hjartdal and Tuddal watercourses started in the 1950s. Currently, these power resources are used by Hjartdøla, Bjordalen and Mydalen power plants, which were commissioned in the period between 1958 and 1961. The total annual power production is around 480 GWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of around 24,000 households.
The developer would hereby like to announce that an application has been submitted for a licence to develop and operate a new power plant which will make use of the Hjartdøla and Skogsåa watercourses. The development area is located in Hjartdal municipality. Around 2.5 km of Skogsåa borders Notodden municipality.
Sauland Power Plant will give more efficient utilisation of the power resources found in a watercourse area that is already used for power production. Development of Sauland Power Plant will significantly increase the value of watercourses already subject to regulation.
