Sauland Power Plant
Sauland Power Plant will use the waterfall resources in the Hjartdøla and Skogsåa rivers, from the intake at Hjartsjå and Sønderlandsvatn to the outlet some way downstream of the Omnesfossen waterfall. The power plant will be built with two separate machines in the same station. The facility that will utilise the Hjartdøla waterfall will be named Sauland I, while the facility that will use the waterfall in Skogsåa will be named Sauland II.
Grovaråa, Vesleåa, Uppstigåa and Rodalsløken will be taken into Sauland II.
The main facilities of Sauland Power Plant will be:
- A power station, located in the mountainside north of Skårnes, with a total annual production of around 205 GWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of over 10,000 households.
- Around 28 kilometres of tunnels.
- A 132 kV switching station and an approx. 500-metre-long earthing cable.
Temporary and permanent spoil heaps will be established at the various operational locations. Country roads used in the construction period or for operation of the power plant will be upgraded as necessary. Short road sections leading to the various control areas will be constructed where required.
