Impact assessments
Sauland Power Plant will make a significant renewable energy contribution equivalent to more than 20 times the production of a medium-sized small-scale power plant producing 10 GWh. The impact on natural resources, the environment and society will be moderate compared to the large amount of energy that will be produced.
The project will not affect:
- Protected areas or areas proposed to be protected.
- Intervention-free natural areas (INON), which means that all planned facilities are located close to existing technical facilities.
The project is constructed without:
- New suspended power lines
- New regulation reservoirs
Sauland I, i.e. the Hjartdøla section, utilises the regulation reservoirs that were established in connection with the development of Hjartdøla Power Plant in the 1950s
