How a hydroelectric power plant works
Hydroelectric power is a green, renewable energy source that does not pollute. According to the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate’s product declaration of 2016, 96.3 per cent of all power production in Norway is from hydroelectric power. Globally, hydroelectric power makes up around one sixth of the total power production.
Hydroelectric power production requires major investments in power plant facilities, dams and other infrastructure. Hydroelectric power has many advantages – it is renewable, clean, reliable, flexible and produces cheap energy for generation after generation.
